The story is about Tawan, a young woman who lives with Yuanjai, her aunt-in-law, and Yardfah, Yuanjai’s daughter. Although Tawan is the niece of Yuanjai’s deceased husband, Yod, she lives in the house as a servant, which makes Jiew, the housemaid, very sympathetic to her. One day, Trong, a wealthy mine owner and friend of Yod, wants his son, Tomorn, to marry Yardfah. Trong and Yod had been betrothed since childhood. Yardfah doesn’t want to marry Tomorn, believing him to be a country bumpkin and not wealthy. Furthermore, she already has a husband, Banleng. Both Yardfah and Banleng are lazy and squander Yuanjai’s money, accumulating debt and about to have their mortgaged house seized. Tomorn pays their debt. Seeing Tomorn’s wealth, Yuanjai desires his fortune and has Tawan impersonate Yardfah. Tawan is uneasy because Tomorn once told her he hated lies. When Tomorn marries Tawan in the name of Yardfah, Tawan moves to a mansion in Phuket. Tawan was bullied by Saiwai, Tomorn’s mother; Kingkaew, Tomorn’s sister’s nanny; and Sophit, a female friend who liked Tomorn, because they disliked Tawan for marrying Tomorn. (Source: Ch7)
