Plaeng Chimphli, also known as Nantrai or Pho Liang Nattrai, heads to the Himawat logging camp to inherit his family’s business. Nantrai conceals his true identity as a manager to learn the ropes. At a celebratory feast, Nueanang, the granddaughter of the senior elephant handler, Muenla, is chosen to perform a traditional dance to welcome the new manager. Nueanang’s pure beauty captivates Nantrai from the moment he sees her. Nantrai befriends Nueanang amidst the jealousy of Saengkham, another elephant handler who is in love with her. News of Nueanang reaches Mae Nai Sriwalla, who intends for her eldest son to marry Khaekhai, a woman she has chosen for him. Khaekhai and Mae Nai harass Nueanang at the logging camp. Tharp, Nantrai’s younger brother, and Daodeng, Khaekhai’s sister, repeatedly try to prevent conflicts. Mae Nai uses the camp’s workers, Ranjuan, Soifa, and Kampung, to harass and falsely accuse Nueanang, but Nueanang is helped by Khamfai, Mondoi, and Saengkham to escape trouble. Despite Khaekhai’s jealousy, Nantrai and Nueanang’s love blossoms gradually through their close proximity. Muenla feared her granddaughter would suffer the same heartbreak as her mother, who loved a man of different social standing. However, Nantrai proved himself as a manager, winning everyone’s hearts. Muenla agreed to give Nueanang to Nantrai. The mistress and Khaekhai followed, destroying Nueanang’s happiness at their wedding. Nueanang’s heart was shattered when she learned the truth: Nantrai was actually her stepfather, Natrai. Muenla died of heartbreak.
